Round 2 (35): OT Jason Spriggs, Indiana
I know, the Chargers recently re-signed Joe Barksdale and Chris Hairston. So what. The team went into last season with King Dunlap, Barksdale and Hairston as its top three tackles and look how that turned out. To expect the same group to come out and raise the bar in 2016 is not optimistic … it’s foolhardy.
Spriggs is a pure left tackle with long arms and good strength (31 reps at the NFL Combine). He shined at the Senior Bowl, too, and was voted the best offensive lineman in Mobile, Ala. A four-year starter, it shouldn’t be long before he replaces Dunlap as Philip Rivers’ blindside protector.
