A big part of San Diego’s defensive dominance down the stretch was the improved play of the outside linebackers. Melvin Ingram finished the season with double-digit sacks (10.5) and Jeremiah Attaochu chipped in a pair of multi-sack games.
However, outside of Ingram and Attaochu, depth at the position is highly suspect. The remaining outside linebackers only accounted for one sack all season.
While the return of Tourek Williams should help the depth issues, the Chargers can’t rely on Ingram to stay healthy and play 96 percent of the defensive snaps for a second consecutive season. GM Tom Telesco needs to find some additional depth and production if the defense is going to continue to grow.
