Training Camp Scouting Report: Javontee Herndon

Javontee Herndon has been one of the breakout stars of training camp. Has he done enough to win a spot in San Diego’s deep receiving corps? Read More…

Javontee Herndon has been one of the stars of training camp, so much so that I don’t think the Chargers will be able to sneak him back into the practice squad for a second straight season. San Diego would have to keep six receivers in order to retain Herndon, but something tells me if he is released he will snapped up by the Carolina Panthers in a second.

Yeah, he definitely could be scooped up by another team. Depends on how the preseason goes. The Panthers could nap him, but they did bring back Ted Ginn Jr.

Herndon could be like Ajirotutu and bounce around the league a bit. Herndon probably has better upside, but a lot of people touted Tutu as the next Malcom Floyd, so you never know.

If he does get signed by someone else, the Bolts have plenty of other young receivers. They could even decide to just keep 5 receivers knowing that they will be able to sneak some real good talent on practice squad, even if Herndon isn’t one of them.
